Private Bank reports strong growth in 2005

HSBC Private Bank today reported a 30.8 percent rise in pre-tax profit to US$912 million in 2005.

Group Private Banking grew strongly in all regions in 2005, and net new money inflows were US$35.7 billion.

Commenting on the results, Group Chairman Sir John Bond said: “Of our four customer groups, our private banking business continued to invest in Asia, particularly in India, Japan and Taiwan and we expanded our support of clients from mainland China. In Europe we established regional offices in the UK, France and Russia, and we also expanded our geographical presence in the US.”
