HSBC & Gumpert bring Apollo car to Dubai

9 January 2006

Following the Dubai Motor Show in December, HSBC Private Bank (Dubai) continued on a motoring theme by offering a select audience the unique driving experience of the Gumpert AG Apollo, a super two-seater sports car capable of speeds of 350km/h.

Fresh from its exhibition stand at the Motor Show, the Apollo was presented to HSBC Private Bank clients and other select guests on 19 December, all eager to experience the full power of the car. Guests were driven around the Dubai Formula 1 race track in the Apollo at an exhilarating 280 km/h. And for guests willing to test their own skills on the track, the Private Bank organised a special training session in Audi A3 racing cars, hosted by professional drivers from the nearby Race and Driving School.

Commenting on the event, Stephen Richards Evans, Regional Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Private Bank based in the UAE, said: "We are delighted to team up with Gumpert to give our clients the opportunity to learn more about the world of sports cars and to enjoy driving Apollo.

"At HSBC Private Bank our primary aim is to help our clients achieve their goals both from a financial and a lifestyle perspective. To do so, we are constantly looking for opportunities, which are appropriate to our clients' interests."

The Apollo is a V8 turbo charged car built up upon a chrome molybdenum chassis with an integrated carbon monocoque safety cell. The transmission is a sequential six-speed gearbox with twin clutch configuration.
