March 2005: Global Forum

Latin America - a global perspective

Economic prospects for Latin America are the best they have been in many years, according to Paulo Vieira da Cunha, chief economist and head of Latin American research for HSBC Securities (USA) Inc.

Speaking at the fourth HSBC Global Forum, “Latin America: A Global Perspective”, Mr Vieira da Cunha tempered his optimism by acknowledging that “the effects of the global economic imbalance go far beyond Latin America. But it undeniably has special implications for this region”. The Forum was hosted in New York City on 9 March.

The HSBC Global Forums provide clients of HSBC Private Bank Americas direct access to leading financial and economic experts from throughout the HSBC organisation. Previous forums have focused on financial trends in China; the global economy as viewed from the perspective of the foreign exchange markets; and the key challenges facing the US economy. The full presentation is available to download as a PDF file.
